Blowing Rock was
established in 1889 and has been famous for its picturesque Main Street,
and has been attracting large summer and fall crowds without fail for
years. Who could resist a stroll down the flower-lined sidewalks with a
giant ice cream cone? Or peeking in the windows of all the many
exclusive boutiques, antique shops or toy stores?
An elevation of
3,600 to 4,000 ft. affords it's visitors breathtaking views of an
endless chain of misty, blue mountains, not to mention a very long list
of outdoor activities.
Stroll around
Bass Lake in Moses Cone Manor, or visit the Manor atop the property
which was used for some of the filming for "The Green Mile".
Hike the steep
rock faces and challenging terrain and elevation of Grandfather
Mountain. Trout fishing, golfing, horseback riding- you name it. Please
visit the Chamber of Commerce, located on Main Street, for brochures and
event information.
From fine
dining, to cave exploring, you can find it all here and we're confident
you'll be back for a second visit!
